Wigan at home tomorrow to start...

Will it be 3 points?
1?
Zero?

Will Aquisanta start?  Xmasllani
Will Kuyt be dropped?  roll eyes

And with Pompey away on Saturday and Wolves at home on Boxing Day, will anything but 9 points be enough to save his job?

Rafa (not happy with no Xmas rafa tbf)

Masch is a doubt isn't he? I can see him being left out. He'll be more useful away to Pompey on Saturday I'd imagine.

--------------Reina-----------

Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Aurelio

Benayoun, Gerrard, Aquilani, Riera

---------Torres, Pacheco--------

Is really what I'd like to see. We should be fucking teams like Wigan up.

I'd rather see Dirk than 'Captain Fantasically Petulant' atm. Gerrard's attitude is beginning to wind me up, even though Dirk needs a rest at least he'll always position himself well for a bit toe poking action.

Lucas & Aqui should start in the middle imo.

I just want to look forward to a game again  confused santa

Santa Rafa is required tbf..... Fabian?  Xmasllani

I'd rather see Gerrard actually creating a chance or two rather than Dirk miscontrolling it or scuffing another shot  sulking santa

I'd rather see Gerrard in MF and a centre forward or second striker supporting Torres. If he's going to sulk he can do it further back. At least when he's there, Carra's more likely to pass to him and we'll see Hollywood balls instead of hoofs (there's a difference!)  smug santa

I dont understand why everyone seems to think Dirks tired, hes a fucking machine, hes still running around for 90 mins every week or twice a week.  Hes a Lampard type that can play 65 games a season Nodding

On Aquilani : I was proper desperate to see him and couldnt work out why he wasnt being given even 20 mins a game after his promising cameo Vs Arsenal in the CC.  But then he played against Fiorentina and Arsenal and looked well off the pace so I dont know why the calls for him to start have intensified so much tbh...I wont be bothered if hes on the bench again.

If we don't play the cross eyed fucker he'll never get up to speed. An ideal game tonight imo, he won't play of course so my arguement is pointless.

Could be difficult to get a stream tonight  sulking santa

Are you counting full games or half games? First half against Arsenal was good.

I'm a bit meh about tonight, I'm afraid to get my hopes up in case they sign Boumsong or someboby else really shit using a secret transfer window loophole. Crap players are pretty much nailed on to score against us.

Yeah, it is. We've stooped that low!

Honestly it's a confidence thing. You got the feeling that the OG the other day was like sticking a pin into a beachball, the whole team just said "Not again!" and just stopped playing. I'm hoping for that "corner turn" as much as the next guy but I'm afraid of the train wrecks we have to endure before it happens.

Don't forget that after we turn that corner, we have to turn the next one right away or we're back to where we were. The importance of 3 decent performances, 3 wins and a huge dollop of self belief cannot be underestimated. We go to Villa* with that and an eye on playing well and winning, then we're going to be all right.

*Just read back the Villa game at home. Atkinson & bad fucking luck did for us that day. Own goal, another from a corner that wasn't a corner, no protection for Torres despite the Villa back 4 going through the back of him 4 times in the game, hit the post, Friedel MOTM, Gerrard losing the head for a penno when we're already 1-2 down. 24 shots, 11 on target, 68% possession. What a total cock-up of a game that was!

As for the Villa game that was a true farce, not that we haven't had several of them.

I went to the local for the Chelsea game and got slagged off by the local pastor/minister when we totally failed. I think I win that one.

yeah, not one of my better days.

Onwards: Team News!

Part 1 from Rafa:
Quote
'Riera , Kelly and Nabil El Zhar are still injured. The rest of the players are okay. We will have to check with Mascherano and Johnson in the morning just to be sure.'

Part 2 from an ITK:
Quote
Kuyt and torres up front. Gerrard will play in centre mid, Johnson 100% out and Degen not in squad at all so looks like Derby may be starting. Sounds like aquilani will be on the bench and either masch or lucas next to gerrard

Whispers of this:
Quote
                   Reina
Darby    Carra    Agger    Insua
Yossi    Gerrard   Lucas   Aurelio
          Kuyt            Torres

whos that leave to play on the wings then, Benny & Aurelio?

I do think Kuyt + Torres could be good though.  Maybe also help Torres not to take such a battering every game if Kuyts up there.
