I don't see us getting 7th based on that shite.

But the other teams do still have to win their games, so we'll wait and see. That was probably the worst we've been all season, but it's not the end of the world yet.

EDIT: Thought Masch had a decent game, he was probably the only mind. Maxi wasn't terrible, but didn't really get involved enough to make a big contribution.

No one cared, if you look back to the Arsenal game last year we were absolutely urgent from the off. When we went 4-3 down in the 90th minute heads didn't drop, and when we levelled it in the 93rd minute to 4-4 you could see Benayoun pleading to the ref for more added time. Tonight we just lacked everything. I don't think we were as bad as against Pompey but certainly bad. This is probably the worst Liverpool side of the last 50 years.

I'm starting to believe Rafa has completely lost the plot.

I dunno what to believe anymore sad

Perhaps he has lost the dressing room? We have had a lot of bad luck this season but it doesnt explain the drop off in performance.

The pressure on him all summer will be huge if/when we do miss out on 4th.

We're f*cked.

But on the subject of monday night games, a quick browse through the fixtures/results section on the lfc site and comparison with a calendar shows:

This season: Villa (H) Loss, Brum (H) Draw, Wigan (A) Loss
Last season: Everton (H) Draw, West Ham (H) Draw
07/08 season: Villa (H) Draw

And I've almost certainly missed a few.

Now I'm not exclusively blaming the monday night thing, we were f*cking dire, but I'm now almost expecting pompey to come and get a result next monday.  After we get hammered by Lille this thursday night of course.  We're an actual laughing stock.   sigh voronin again...

we've debated this before. It's gone away after a few wins, and to be fair it's a bit false for us to talk about it again after a loss.

My opinion still stands though. the board lost the dressing room by failing to reinvest the Alonso money properly or Rafa lost it by selling him. - regardless Rafa's greatest fault is that he's incapable of winning it back. - and I don't think Gerrard/Carra have helped - they should be more active in pulling the team together yet there's nothing from them, no performances, no war cry, just Carra talking about being happy to leave.

Compare the mood in our squad with that video of the lads last year sad

 sigh voronin again...

I dont even know what we were trying to do as a team there.  Why was Kuyt playing as a No10 instead of either a striker or right wing, positions hes quite good at.  That role in the team should be the creator, with Maxi & Benny both cutting inside and exchanging passes with him, the total opposite of Kuyts strengths.  Might as well play Babel centre back.

As far as the rest of the season I think it'll be like the point last year when we had made sure we were out of the title race with a series of shitty negative displays and suddenly started remembering we can just go out there and beat teams and put together a run of wins.

I'm amusing myself by reading guardian's commentary after being appalled by certain players pass completion %s on the chalkboard.

Quote
53 min: Liverpool have given the ball away so often tonight it is untrue, and they are all culpable, some more so than others. It's not as if they are attempting particularly difficult passes.
sad sigh voronin again...
Quote
64 min: Figueroa concedes a corner under pressure from Maxi but again Gerrard's delivery isn't great and Bramble heads clear. Why does he take every set-piece when a nine-year-old would deliver more accurate balls? Figueroa does well to halt Torres's run and Gerrard gets another chance from a corner

65 min: ... and once again fails to clear the first man. Change for Wigan as Victor Moses comes on for Marcelo Moreno who has done quite well
lol sigh voronin again...
Quote
82 min: Changes for both sides. Ryan Babel replaces Kuyt for Liverpool, while Hendry Thomas comes on for the injured Diame

85 min: Babel passes it straight to Rodallega who shoots high and wide from 25 yards. I don't know why Babel was on the bench. With passing like that he is surely worth a place in the starting XI
Shake Fist sigh voronin again...

Something I find a bit worrying and really dissapointed is that whilst its no excuse and as the experienced pros they should be setting a better example Carra,Gerrard,Torres and maybe a few others basically dont need Rafa, Carra & Gerrard were here before him and will likely be afterwards, Torres is one of the best in the world so could move or do whatever he wants and be guaranteed a spot under a different manager.  Players like Lucas,Riera,Insua have produced too many half arsed displays to justify the loyalty he shows to them, considering they arent of the quality of the others.

I've decided not to reply to this thread much because if I get started, I'm afraid I won't stop.  sad

Thinking of changing my "-Solius-" banner for a "show some pride in the shirt" banner for Lille. (and when I say banner, I mean a piece of cardboard with a marker.)

Usually, once ive slept on it, im able to find positives in most Liverpool performances. Not today. that really was terrible. Ive also never heard Rafa so negative in a post match interview, he normally gives it the "unlucky, more confidence" line but not last night. looked really pissed off.  sad

I think he knows that is just about it for 4th and thus his time (possibly rightly) is up. Even Paul Tomkins said on his twitter last night that 4th was 'just about dead and buried'

Annoys me the idiots on 365 having a go at Lucas as 'worst player in the league' along with Benny. Saying its us (rather than spain) that have killed Torres this season etc.

Shocking game, but I wish the fans would actually look at the game itself rather than just trot out standard bullshit each week.
